Vibration Speed Sensors: A Practical Choice for Rotating Machinery Monitoring

Vibration Velocity Sensor

In the condition monitoring of rotating machinery, vibration speed is a key indicator for judging the health of the equipment. Bearing wear, misalignment or imbalance are directly reflected in changes in speed amplitude. The vibration speed sensor directly converts this mechanical motion into a voltage signal, eliminating the need for an external integrating circuit, and is particularly suitable for long-term monitoring of medium and low-speed equipment. As a professional measuring instrument manufacturer, Kingmach understands the actual needs of field engineers: sensors must be easy to install, have stable signals, and work reliably under different working conditions. We offer vibration velocity sensors covering common sensitivity ranges, with ranges and interfaces adjustable to suit project requirements. The housing is made of rugged stainless steel and has a standard protection rating suitable for most industrial environments. For special applications, we also offer solutions with anti-corrosion coatings or high protection levels. From selection to commissioning, our technical support team can intervene at an early stage to help reduce on-site trial and error. The global distribution network makes spare parts and after-sales service faster and the project cycle more secure.

Technical Detail

Configured around process stability, mold life, and long-term uptime.

The Kingmach vibration speed sensor is based on the piezoelectric or magnetoelectric principle and converts mechanical vibration directly into a voltage signal proportional to the speed. Compared with acceleration sensors, it has a higher signal-to-noise ratio in the mid-frequency band of 10 Hz to 1 kHz, and its output can be directly connected to a PLC or data acquisition system, simplifying the signal conditioning process. Common sensitivities include 4 mV/(mm/s) and 100 mV/(mm/s) series, and the measurement range can cover 0 to hundreds of millimeters per second as needed. The sensor adopts a fully sealed stainless steel shell. The internal circuit has undergone impact resistance and temperature compensation processing, and can maintain a stable zero output in the environment of -20°C to 80°C. For outdoor or wet environments, we offer IP67 or even IP68 levels of protection, as well as split cables to reduce connector corrosion. In addition to standard M8 and M10 thread installation, we also provide magnetic bases, quick-plug connectors and other accessories to facilitate temporary measuring points or frequent replacements. In terms of application, it is commonly used in online monitoring of rotating equipment such as fans, pumps, compressors, paper machines, and conveyor lines, and is also used in laboratory vibration analysis. With its wide product line and flexible customization capabilities, Kingmach has become the mid-range choice of many system integrators and equipment manufacturers. Our global distribution network and technical support system ensure timely response in every aspect from solution design to on-site installation. Whether it is a standard model or customized requirements, we can deliver within a short lead time.

FAQ

Common technical questions

What is the difference in usage between vibration speed sensor and acceleration sensor?

The speed sensor directly outputs a voltage signal proportional to the vibration speed, which is suitable for routine monitoring of most rotating machinery and has simple wiring. The acceleration sensor outputs an acceleration signal and requires an integrating circuit to obtain the speed. It is often used for high-frequency or impact testing. The signal-to-noise ratio of the speed sensor in the mid-frequency band is usually better, and the long-term monitoring drift is smaller.

Can Kingmach customize the sensitivity according to the requirements of our acquisition system?

Yes. We can adjust the sensitivity according to the input range of your data collector. The common customization range is from tens to hundreds of mV/(mm/s), and provide the corresponding frequency response test report.

How can the sensor ensure reliability in a humid environment?

The standard model already has IP65 protection. For condensation or water spray environments, we can upgrade to an IP68 fully sealed structure, and use split cables and double sealed joints to avoid internal water ingress. If there is contact with salt water or chemicals, special coatings can also be provided.

What are the installation methods? Do I need to make a thread adapter?

The common installation is M8 or M10 threaded holes, which are directly installed on the equipment measuring points. We provide magnetic mounts, quick-plug connectors and universal brackets to facilitate temporary or frequently moved measuring points. If different thread specifications are required, the adapter can also be customized.

How long is the general delivery cycle? Is there local support for overseas projects?

Standard models are usually in sufficient stock and shipped within 2 weeks. Customized orders generally take 4 to 6 weeks, depending on the specific modification content. We have distributors in multiple regions and can provide local technical selection and after-sales support to speed up problem response.
